After doing a lot of research on USB hubs I settled on this one (but with the dark finish). You might have minor stationary problems as the unit is not very heavy. I am a audio producer and it is very important for all my equipment to run safely and smoothly throughout the creative process. 10.5.7. If your looking for a multiple port USB solution, look no further, this unit is fast and reliable. I have been using it 24/7 with an external hard drive, mouse, usb audio controllers, pin drives, etc. I am running a Macbook Pro ver. Its wide footprint helps make up for it.
and it has worked flawlessly. The cable bundler is convenient. This USB hub has allowed me to do that with confidence. It has exceeded my expectations.
The hub is connected to an iMac, which could also be some of the problem. If I shut off the printer, then the memory stick will power.
If I plug too many devices into the hub, they won't start. The device can not handle the power consumption of the USB devices plugged into it.
If they are, and I plug in a memory stick, the memory stick won't power up. I wanted a device for the extra USB ports to handle a printer and an external hard disk, plus the occasional memory stick and camera.
The printer and hard disk were intended to be on all the time. On most occasions, I have to plug and unplug/replug the USB devices in the hub to get them to work.
Bottom line - the device is useless as a multi-port solution.
I really like the location of the ports and the cord organizer. I would like a different color combo, this reminds me of some sort of baby toy. It is nice to have a little weight to the hub to keep it down and from sliding around. I recommend it
Here's the other problem: heat. This is an outstanding port. The unit is very warm when operating. It's fast and can, theoretically handle 7 USB devices --- that's theoretically. In truth, the port hub can handle 5-6 devices because the connection plugs are too close together. This is only a problem if you put it on top of something else, like I did, initially; I put it on my external drive. If this review was helpful, please add your vote.
It's nice and works as it is supposed to. I have an iMac and have no problem at all, I like the way you can organize all the cables and how it looks at my desk.
